Right the way back in week 6, we planted our free mixed salad leaves that were sent to us by Morrisons as part of their Let’s Grow scheme. They have been in the (unheated) greenhouse since then with the children carefully watering them each week and watching their progress. Despite the cold weather, they have done really well and we decided that this was the week to pick them.
Although we had to cheat with shop bought cucumbers and tomatoes (until our own are ready later in the year) we made the most delicious salads. All the children gave them a try and although not everyone liked all of the leaves (too spicy!) everyone could pick their favourite.
We also planted our peppers (Cayenne, Chilli Apache) today and put them inside on the windowsill with the tomatoes.
Half term next week then it will feel like we are inching ever closer to getting really stuck in to our planting.
