perfectly straight lines for our peas

perfectly straight lines for our peas

What a beautiful day! For the first time in ages it was actually nice to be outside and we even had our coats off by the end of the session. Sometimes in the middle of winter when it is cold and wet, gardening club doesn’t seem like fun but today there were plenty of smiling faces.

So, onto the tasks for today. With March only two days away, we decided to get going with some of our March sowing. We did a bed of peas (Avola) using the handle of a broom to get our perfectly straight lines! We also did a bed of carrots (Amsterdam Forcing) These were on seed tape to help us get them straight!

Next week, our daffodils and hyacinths are being judged by the London Children’s Flower Society so we went for a quick check in the greenhouse. Squeals all round as we discovered our daffodils in full bloom! We put them out in the winter sunshine, hoping that they will last until next week.
